Detailed News

Iran refuses to negotiate under pressure or blockade conditions
According to Iran’s Press TV, President Masoud Pezeshkian stated during a call with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that Tehran will not engage in peace talks under pressure, threats, or a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. He reiterated that Iran rejects negotiations conducted under coercion or siege conditions and suggested that the U.S. should remove all obstacles to dialogue, including lifting the blockade of the strait.
Iran open to talks but insists on uranium enrichment rights
The Wall Street Journal reported that a senior Iranian diplomat said Tehran remains open to negotiations with Washington but will not abandon its uranium enrichment activities. Iran’s ambassador to India, Mohammad Fattahi, stated on social media that meaningful progress in talks requires recognition of Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy. The report noted that the U.S. is currently seeking a 20-year suspension of Iran’s enrichment program.
U.S. senator calls for ending negotiations and resuming military action
Roger Wicker, chairman of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, stated that the era of negotiating with Iran is over and called for an end to talks and a return to military strikes. He argued that any successor to Khamenei would not honor commitments and urged the complete destruction of Iran’s conventional military capabilities and remaining nuclear infrastructure, claiming this is the only path to long-term regional stability. On the same day, President Trump said Iran is preparing to submit a negotiation proposal, and a U.S. delegation led by Witkoff and Kushner is expected to arrive in Islamabad.
Iran’s Supreme Leader orders Strait of Hormuz not to revert to pre-war status
According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Nikzad said that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has explicitly ordered that the Strait of Hormuz must not return to its pre-war status. On April 25, Khamenei posted on social media urging Gulf countries to recognize the situation, make the right decisions, and remain vigilant against false promises from hostile forces. He expressed hope for constructive responses from regional nations but stressed that such outcomes depend on distancing themselves from hostile influences.
U.S. consumer confidence drops to near four-year low
A survey released Friday showed that U.S. consumer confidence fell to its lowest level in nearly four years in April, driven by rising inflation concerns linked to the Iran conflict. The University of Michigan reported a final reading of 49.8, the lowest since June 2022, though slightly higher than the earlier estimate of 47.6.The index stood at 53.3 in March. After the announcement of a two-week ceasefire and a modest decline in gasoline prices, confidence recovered slightly from earlier lows, according to Joanne Hsu, director of the survey. The Iran conflict appears to be influencing consumer sentiment בעיקר through higher fuel prices and broader cost pressures. Developments that fail to ease supply constraints or reduce energy prices are unlikely to boost confidence.
Iran’s three-phase negotiation plan revealed—oil prices rise again?
In early Monday Asian trading, U.S. crude rose nearly 2% to around $96.26 per barrel, as tensions involving Iran lifted oil prices once again. Iran has taken an increasingly hardline stance, diminishing hopes for a diplomatic breakthrough to end the two-month-long conflict.Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi left Pakistan over the weekend without results, while President Trump canceled a planned visit to Islamabad by envoys Witkoff and Kushner, further clouding the prospects for peace.
