Iran: Force Cannot Lead to a Sustainable Agreement; Trump Should Stop Making Threats
On the 10th, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations responded to U.S. President Trump’s threat to strike Iran, stating that threats, intimidation, or the use of force cannot lead to a sustainable agreement, and that Trump should stop threatening Iran.
According to the Islamic Republic News Agency, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Iravani, said at a UN Security Council meeting on the 10th (local time) that Trump should cease his repeated threats against Iran, including the threat of military action he issued again that day. Earlier that day, Trump stated that the United States would launch another strike against Iran, and that it would be “very severe.”
US Media: Trump Holds Meeting in the Situation Room to Discuss Strike Options Against Iran
According to Axios, two US sources revealed that President Trump convened a meeting in the White House Situation Room on Wednesday afternoon to discuss options for a new round of strikes against Iran. Just hours earlier, he had told reporters that the US would “strike them hard again today.”
The sources said Trump is considering a large-scale, short-duration military operation intended to force Iran to change its stance in related negotiations, though specific details were not disclosed. Attendees at the Situation Room meeting included Vance, Rubio, the CIA Director, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Kane, White House Special Envoy Witkov, and other senior officials. Defense Secretary Heges participated in the meeting via video link.
U.S. Defense Secretary Says U.S. Will Strike Iran Hard
On the afternoon of June 10 local time (early this morning, June 11, Beijing time), U.S. Defense Secretary Hegeseth stated that U.S. Central Command (EDT) would be “very busy” on the evening of June 10, as U.S. forces “will strike Iran hard” that night and “will bomb key facilities within Iran.”
Hegessy stated that any actions taken by the U.S. military are “intended to advance U.S. military interests and strengthen our diplomatic position.” He added that if bombs are needed to “negotiate” with Iran, then the U.S. will “negotiate with bombs.”
Senior Iranian Lawmaker: War Will Not Be Confined to the Region
Following Trump’s remarks regarding possible further strikes against Iran, Ibrahim Aziz, head of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security Committee, issued a strong statement on social media. He said, “We are not afraid to fight the losers.
“U.S. casualties are already far higher than the numbers Trump has acknowledged, and they will continue to rise. This time, the war will not be confined to this region. We’ll see!”
Netanyahu to Run in Next Israeli Parliamentary Election
The Likud Party, the ruling party of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, announced on the 10th that Netanyahu will run in the next Israeli parliamentary election in an effort to remain in power. The Likud Party made the announcement in a brief statement that day but did not provide further details.
Earlier, U.S. President Trump said in an interview with ABC News that it was unclear whether Netanyahu planned to run again. The Likud Party subsequently issued the aforementioned statement in response. The Israeli parliamentary election was originally scheduled to take place no later than October 27 of this year.
