News Details

Trump Says He Would Not Rule Out Meeting with Iran’s Supreme Leader If a Deal Is Reached
On the 4th local time, U.S. President Trump stated that if the United States and Iran ultimately reach an agreement, he would not rule out the possibility of meeting with Iran’s new Supreme Leader. He reiterated that the United States would never allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons, and said that the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities had “completely destroyed” those facilities.
Trump also noted that the U.S. had considered sending troops to the sites of Iran’s nuclear facilities to remove enriched uranium but ultimately abandoned the plan to avoid entangling U.S. forces in a prolonged ground operation that could result in casualties. He explained that such an operation would have taken one to two weeks and required significant heavy equipment and airlift capacity, posing a high level of risk.
Trump Says Some Progress Has Been Made in Lebanon-Israel Peace Talks
On the 4th local time, U.S. President Trump stated that although Lebanon’s Hezbollah had previously rejected the U.S.-brokered peace plan, negotiations were still moving forward and some progress had been made.
Trump noted that the situation in Lebanon is intertwined with the issue of Iran. He revealed that relevant parties had proactively contacted the U.S. to discuss a ceasefire. “They called us to ask if the conflict could be halted.”Trump said he had communicated with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on this matter and had also reached out to representatives of Lebanon’s Hezbollah.
Putin Wants to Negotiate with Ukraine Based on Russia-U.S. Meeting
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on the 4th (local time) during a meeting with the heads of major international news agencies that Russia would defeat Ukraine on the battlefield if necessary, but that it was also “fully prepared to reach an agreement with Ukraine through peaceful means based on the discussions held during the meeting with U.S. President Trump in Anchorage, Alaska, last August.”
Putin said, “During the Anchorage meeting, Russia was asked to consider certain compromise proposals, and Russia is willing to accept the compromise proposals discussed in Anchorage. However, the Ukrainian side must also agree to these compromise proposals, and then the conflict will be resolved quickly and naturally.” However, Putin believes that due to the domestic political situation, Ukraine is not yet ready to reach an agreement.
Hezbollah Leader: Rejects Outcome of Direct Lebanon-Israel Talks, Insists on Comprehensive Ceasefire and Israeli Withdrawal
A Hezbollah leader stated that he rejects the outcome of direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, demanding that any ceasefire must cover southern Lebanon, and insisting on a comprehensive ceasefire and Israel’s withdrawal from the south. He called on relevant officials to end these “farce-like and humiliating” direct negotiations and criticized the U.S. statement as “a roadmap for the elimination of part of the Lebanese people.”
He emphasized that Hezbollah has never pledged not to resist aggression or refrain from responding, and refuses to link its existence to a ceasefire or Israeli withdrawal. As long as Israeli aggression continues, the resistance will not cease, and northern Israel will not be safe.
World Economic Forum: Geoeonomic Fragmentation Could Cost the Global Economy Over $300 Billion Annually
In a report released on June 4, the World Economic Forum stated that driven by geopolitical tensions, economic security concerns, and shifting trade relations among major economies, geoeonomic fragmentation is accelerating in 2025 and 2026, and is projected to cost the global economy between $213 billion and $307 billion annually.
The report notes that tariff hikes, investment restrictions, and retaliatory measures are increasingly affecting traditional economies—including the United States, the European Union, Canada, Japan, and South Korea—driving up business costs and increasing uncertainty surrounding cross-border investment. If fragmentation worsens further, global economic losses could reach $6.9 trillion, accounting for 6.4% of global GDP.
The report projects that current industrial fragmentation policies will push global inflation up by 0.2 to 0.3 percentage points and erode household purchasing power. Emerging and developing economies will be particularly hard hit, with output losses potentially reaching as high as 10.7% in an extreme scenario.
